Halong Bay Boat Cruise compares the cruises in Ha Long, Lan Ha and Bai Tu Long bays that are sold on GetYourGuide: day boats from Hanoi and Cat Ba, one night on board, two nights, luxury ships and private boats. We read every listing and put the same facts side by side, so you can see what a cruise gives you before you open the calendar.

The one number we add is hours on the water: how much of the trip you spend on the bay, not on the road or at the pier. A day from Hanoi gives about 6 of 13 hours; one night gives about 23 of 31. Where the partner publishes times we use them, and elsewhere we say it is our estimate.

How We Choose What to Recommend

We only recommend cruises with at least five reviews and an average of 4.5 stars or more, and we prefer the ones with more reviews. The cheapest cruise is rarely our pick: we look for the most time on the bay for the money, and we say what the pick costs you in return, whether that is a large ship, a shared sundeck or a transfer sold separately.

We list only cruises rated 4.0 or higher. For the cheapest quarter of each length, day, one night or three days, the bar is higher: 4.5 stars and at least 30 reviews, because a low price with few or middling reviews is the riskiest buy on the bay.

When a listing says less than its title, we say so: three-day trips with only one night on the ship, “private” that means a private balcony, a pickup that costs $25 extra.
